I’m taking you on a throwback/flash back moment with the very first song that I featured in my Humble Uplift Newsletter as a special Music Motivation feature. You usually would have to be subscribed to get these, but I thought it would be a great time to feature some more on the blog! This song is none other than: “Before I Die” by Kirk Franklin. (Watch/Listento the Video Below)
You may or may not be familiar with this song, but ever since I heard it for the first time, it spoke directly to me in many ways.
If there was something that you many may not know about me is that I as a little girl, as far back as I can remember, I had a irrational fear of dying. The older that I got, the more that I realized that the root of my fear came from my more rational fear of the unknown. It transitioned into the fear of not reaching my potential, of failing or success (when I finally did attain said goals), and at one point, the fear of change was in the mix as well.
I share that because as I was listening to this song recently I was reminded of that fear I once held close. It not only reminded me of my fear of dying, it reminded me of how far I’ve come and how, when you let go of your fears and work on one step at a time, for however long it might take, you will wake up one morning and realize that you overcame the things that once paralyzed you into silence and kept you from starting on your journey to becoming the best version of yourself.
“Before I Die” is a song of hope, forgiveness, living your purpose and your best life. These are all things, that in the end lead to peace, healing, and fulfillment.
