- 1. Self Care is Important |
Self Care should be one of the most important things you practice in your life, even if that means upsetting people. Learning to be more assertive and realizing that everyone is not going to understand or take it well, has been a big part of this lesson for me and it all boils down to practicing better self-care. I’ve learned that when I put myself first and I’m more direct about what I really want I enjoy my life more and I feel like I’m fulfilling my life’s goals while also being happier and more at peace.

From July to November I felt as though I was struggling to stay afloat. Being a hustler, I had 3 teaching jobs and a personal meal prep/cooking gig, however, I could only manage to get a couple hundred dollars a month since my meal prepping jobs became fewer and far in between while the teaching jobs were non existent due to summer break. I even landed a tutoring gig for part time money to hold me over, only to have to quit 2 months into it because I hadn’t gotten paid (I still have money that I’m trying to get through the Department of Labor for Unpaid Wages). So… long story short, I learned to keep a close eye on my money. Whether it was self management or making sure I kept a list of hours for my own records, I learned that I would need to cover my back. Something that I would certainly need to master for the management of my own business. This was a HUGE eye opener for me.
